Bishop Dr. Anthony Wright Sr., Ph. D
Bishop Dr. Anthony Wright, Sr., is the senior servant and minister of the diversified branch of Zion known as, By the Spirit Ministries Christian Church or BTSMCC. During his 21-year pastorate, the church is thriving to be one of God’s dynamic congregations in the city of District Heights, distinguished by Dr. Wright’s spirit led preaching and teaching.
Under the direction of God, new ministries have been birthed as recently as 2023 that furthers the interaction of church and community. Young and middle-aged people are being called to minister in psalm and dance. Families are returning to their first love in Christ Jesus. The saints of God are accepting their God-given leadership roles with joy and humility.
Dr. Wright is an honor graduate of the Breakthrough Bible College, (BBC) in Temple Hills, Maryland. He also attended the Washington Saturday College at the historic Howard University in Washington, D.C. In the summer of 2000, he continued his advance studies at the Atlanta Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Wright also attended night school at the Washington Bible Seminary in Lanham, MD. After eight years of laboring or matriculation, Dr. Wright received his PHD degree in 2008. Dr. Wright was licensed and ordained to the gospel ministry at Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Michael C. Turner, Sr. He served as youth pastor, the assistant to the pastor, Men’s choir director, deacon, and audio visual technical support.
Dr. Wright has traveled to several cities on the east coast assisting in setting up new educational sites for BBC to include the country of Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Wright is a native of Washington, DC, the son of the late Joan Delores Wright and Elliott L. Wright, Sr. He is married to First Lady-Elect Shirley Wright. He has one daughter, Danielle, Son-in Law, Alamar, two sons, Anthony Jr., and Aaron, and three grandsons and 1 granddaughter.

First Lady Shirley Wright
Deaconess Shirley Ann Wright was born and raised on the Maryland Eastern Shore. She is the devoted wife of the Senior Pastor of By the Spirit Ministries Christian Church, Pastor Anthony E. Wright, Sr. She has three children and three grandsons and a granddaughter.
First Lady Wright is a graduate from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Her professional career spanned over 25 year in the area of finance in the Federal Government. She currently serves as the detailed Church Administrator which oversees the daily business operations of the church and oversees many church activities and programs.
First Lady Wight is also involved in numerous ministries throughout the church (praise dance, deaconess, choir, Sunday school, or bible study) to name a few. Her passions are with senior citizens in order to better inform, equip, and expose them with sound information and bible knowledge. She achieves this task through workshops, forums, classes. She can be found giving a word of encouragement spoken or written, a soft touch, or just a warm smile. Above all, First Lady Wright loves the Lord and has committed her life to ministry.
